Sharjah’s Kanaf Centre Assists Over 35,000 Child Abuse Victims

Sharjah: Kanaf, UAE’s first dedicated child protection centre, has provided legal, psychological, and social support to over 35,000 children and 20,000 parents since its inception in 2019.

The milestone was highlighted during a visit on Wednesday by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, who reaffirmed the emirate’s commitment to child welfare and protection.

“Kanaf is an integrated model reflecting Sharjah’s vision of addressing the social and emotional needs of children,” he said.

“We are committed to its sustainability and continual development to meet global standards.”

He emphasized that child protection is a collective humanitarian duty and praised the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi for championing child welfare.

Since 2019, Kanaf has delivered 532 initiatives and workshops through 6,639 specialists, with oversight from the Child Safety Department.

Officially inaugurated in 2024, the centre was established under Sheikha Jawaher’s direction to provide a safe, supportive environment for child abuse victims.
